The Cook County Board of Commissioners voted recently to purchase security cameras for the County Administration Building, courthouse, and annex, as well as a new computer server for the administration building and Tax Commissioner’s Office computers.
County Commissioner Debra Robinson made a motion to move forward with the quote from Onyx Networks & IT for $42,477.50.
Commissioner Dwight Purvis seconded the motion, which carried unanimously with five yes votes.
County Administrator Faye Hughes requested to include the expenses in the Fiscal Year 2016 budget. The County’s general fund will absorb the expense in FY2016 should there be no Homeland Security grants available. Mrs. Hughes also will request funding from the Law Library (the Board of Commissioners agreed to bridge funding until Law Library funds were adequate to cover its participation). Mrs. Hughes said the total of $42,477.50 included computers for the Tax Commissioner’s Office and a server to replace the one in the County Administration office that was purchased in 2008. The security camera portion of the expense was only $14,646.50.
