The presence of Moody Air Force Base is important to our economy in many ways.  Home to the 23d Wing and the 93d Air Ground Operations Wing, Moody trains personnel in logistics; computers; mathematics; physics; and aerospace, electrical, mechanical and aeronautical engineering.  And with these highly skilled military personnel seeking employment in the Cook County area after their military service is completed, area companies find a strong, skilled workforce from which to draw.

Wiregrass Georgia Technical College - Committed to Industry Growth and Prosperity

Wiregrass Georgia Technical College is another strong partner with Cook County.  The nation's fastest growing public two-year college, Wiregrass Technical College houses the Wiregrass  Workforce Development Center right here in Cook County.  Wiregrass students are trained in a vast array of fields and disciplines required in today's industries.

Wiregrass curriculum standards have been developed with the direct involvement of business and industry. These standards serve as the industry-validated specifications for each occupational program.  As proof of the strength of Wiregrass programs, if an employer finds that a graduate of Wiregrass is deficient in one or more competencies as defined in the standards, the college will retrain the employee at no instructional cost to the employee, or the employer, for a period of up to 2 years after graduation.

Additionally, Wiregrass Technical College serves as the local liaison for Georgia's QuickStart program.  The training provided by QuickStart to new and existing industries is world class and has been rated the #1 Workforce Training Program in the nation by Site Selection magazine for many years.
