Cook Medical Center replacement facility agreements signed

Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, was a great day for Cook County as local leaders gathered in the Tift Regional Hospital Board Room and listened as Hospital Authority of Tift County Board Chairman Jimmy Allen read a proclamation on behalf of the Authority to Cook County Stakeholders.

The proclamation states: “On behalf of the Hospital Authority of Tift County, I hereby wish to memorialize the tireless efforts of the Cook County Stakeholders for their collaboration and determination to ensure the future healthcare needs of the Adel - Cook County community are met through the agreement to support a replacement facility of Cook Medical Center.

“We recognize the diligent work you have demonstrated to achieve this historic milestone. The current and future residents of Adel and Cook County can now feel secure that they have a facility to serve as an invaluable resource to receive outstanding patient care for years to come. We are grateful for your unwavering drive and foresight to preserve not only the healthcare needs of this community, but also the economic welfare to allow the community to continue to prosper.

“Thank you once again for your service in allowing Cook Medical Center to continue to live out our mission of serving the health needs of the patients as well as those of the communities we serve.”

The stakeholders group consists of Cook County Commissioners, City of Adel, Adel Industrial Development Authority, Cook County Economic Development Commission, Chris Dorman, President of Tift Regional Health System and Michael Purvis, CEO of Cook Medical Center. Representatives from each entity were present to sign the proclamation.

The Cook Medical replacement facility project is anticipated to break ground in December of 2017 and open in mid-2019.

The new facility will allow CMC to retain 200 jobs and add 50 more as services grow on the Cook campus.
