Georgia Trend magazine and the University of
Georgia’s Public Service and Outreach division recently
recognized Cook County as one of four outstanding
communities statewide that have worked
across public-private and non-profit boundaries on
challenging issues that will improve the quality of
life.
“The Four for the Future partnership between
Georgia Trend magazine and the University of Georgia
represents encouraging examples of innovation,
leadership and collaboration that advance community
well-being and economic development,” said Jennifer
Frum, UGA’s vice president for public service and
outreach.
“The award reflects Georgia Trend’s mission to highlight
the best of Georgia’s communities and UGA’s
public service mission of improving quality of life
across the state,” added Frum.
Accepting the award in Athens last month for Cook
County was Jerry Connell, President, Adel-Cook
County Chamber of Commerce; Lisa Collins, Cook
County Economic Developer; Michael Dinnerman,
Cook County Commission Chairman; Buddy Duke,
Adel City Councilman; and Jeff Lunceford, Chairman,
Adel-Cook County Chamber of Commerce.
Georgia Trend’s April issue featured Cook County in
an article on “Four for the Future.” The other three
communities recognized were Covington and Newton
County – The Center for Community Preservation and
Planning, Cairo and Grady County – Community
Health & Wellness Issue Work Group, and Toccoa-
Stephens County Tomorrow.
