Cardinal CT Company, a subsidiary of Cardinal Glass Industries, has acquired the assets of Catalina Tempering, Inc. and its subsidiaries.
Catalina operates seven regional custom tempering facilities serving the residential window and door market. Their facility in Adel opened in 2013. "Over the last ten years, Catalina has built its business based on quality products and high levels of customer satisfaction," stated Steve Nelson, president of Cardinal CG Company. "Founders Randy Steinberg and Dennis Jasmer have assembled an excellent management team and an experienced workforce which will be a great addition to Cardinal Glass," said Nelson.
"With the conversion of the window and door industry to a more responsive, made to order format, the consumption of custom tempered glass by residential customers has been expanding at a rate nearly double that of window growth. Cardinal’s acquisition of Catalina will serve to expand Cardinal’s presence into new markets and ensure adequate custom tempering capacity for the foreseeable future," stated Nelson.
"We are proud that Catalina Tempering chose to locate in Adel in 2013, and have enjoyed a great relationship with them," said Buddy Duke, Cook County Economic Commission chairman. "We now welcome Cardinal CT Company to our progressive community and believe that in the years to come, Cardinal will be a great success story and a huge asset for Adel and Cook County."
"Catalina will continue to operate under its current structure and anticipates servicing its customers with the same product offerings as in the past. Additionally, Catalina will have access to Cardinal’s coated glass products which will afford Catalina’s customer base an even broader array of high performance and Energy Star products," said Nelson.
"Cardinal's acquisition of Catalina Tempering has combined two outstanding companies. The future is indeed bright for our community," said Lisa Collins, director of economic development for the Cook County Economic Development Commission. "Cardinal will be a great addition to our diverse manufacturing industry and will continue to provide many good jobs for our citizens," added Collins.
Nelson said that Cardinal currently operates 32 manufacturing and fabrication sites throughout the U.S. "With the acquisition of Catalina, a total of 39 facilities and 32 custom tempering furnaces will be available to service the markets," said Nelson. He added, "The synergy between custom tempering capacity, and Cardinal’s regional insulating glass production facilities, will expand Cardinal’s ability to serve customers throughout the U.S. and Canada."
